CHAPTER 2. First days after the Explosion
The brave firemen managed to put out most of the fires till the morning of April 26. However, in the core, the graphite fire is still burning, releasing twice the radiation as the bomb dropped on Hiroshima, and it's impossible to put out in regular ways due to the incredible heat in the still fissioning reactor core. The authorities decides to put out the vicious graphite fire by dropping sand and boron on it. But it's not the only problem, the tanks and the basement under the core is full of water, and they have to be drained, otherwise there would be a 2-3 Megatons powerful Thermal explosion. It will take until May 10 to put out the fire, however even if the divers can drain the water from under the reactor, the molten corium will reach ino the ground water, it's needed to build a heat exchanger under the core, so a tunnel should be dug, leading under the core, by miners...
